1967: Neither BH nor FMD

For at least 30 years some people keep on claiming that the motorsport of Rallycross owes its existence to either a 1963 Rallysprint type event held at the car parks of Brands Hatch Circuit, or to the outbreak of the foot-and-mouth disease in the UK – or even to both. All nonsense, Rallycross was born at Lydden Hill, already nine months before the 1967 RAC Rally was cancelled due to FMD.

SRC: Johan K. wins debut

While Johan Kristoffersson won the SC demo run at Strängnäs victory of the Swedish Rallycross Championship classes were claimed by Daniel Wall in SuperNationals, “Fidde” in SuperNationals 2400 and Tommy Johansson among the Juniors.

NLRC: Van Mechelen again

The second round of the Dutch Rallycross Championship at Valkenswaard saw Patrick Van Mechelen, Peter van de Wege, Willem Slob, Davy Leysen and Johan Kwinten as winners of the five different classes.

With Johan Kristoffersson, son of Tommy Kristoffersson, the next offspring of a former Rallycross hero is set to walk in the shoes of his dad. After starting his own motorsport career in tarmac racing Johan K. is ready for his first Rallycross event.

Round 2 of the FIA European Rallycross Championship at Montalegre in Portugal saw Petter Solberg dominating the weekend, but due to a jump start in the all decisive final “Hollywood” lost overall victory to Liam Doran.
