GRC: Sainz to Barcelona X Games?

Category: GRC, News Posted 29.04.13 14:15 by

Today World Rally Championship legend “El Matador” Carlos Sainz has tested the second VW Polo Mk5 Rallycross SuperCar of Marklund Motorsport at Montalegre.

Swedish youngster Anton Marklund hopes to get Carlos Sainz to drive his second VW Polo Mk5 Rallycross SuperCar in the Global X Games event of Spain, to be held on May 19 in the Olympic Stadium area of Barcelona. Therefore, the Spanish former WRC star came today to Montalegre to test the car that was recently driven by American Buddy Rice in the Global X Games of Brazil. After the event in Foz do Iguaçu the 560bhp Polo was shipped in a hurry to Portugal, where Anton drove it in last weekend’s RallycrossRX round.

Anton Marklund on the test: “We hope that Carlos Sainz is doing Barcelona with us. He came here to test the car, already a good sign. He has a wealth of experience and knows exactly what he is talking about. I’m very pleased that he shared a lot of his technical knowledge with me today. Now I hope we can arrange everything to form a Volkswagen dream-team for Barcelona.” ERC24 understood that Sainz asked for several changes to be done to the set-up of the Polo. And that, after the second drive, the Spaniard wanted the steering of the car to be different as well as other turbocharger settings.
