Belgian Michaël De Keersmaecker has agreed with compatriot Jochen Coox to drive the VW Scirocco Mk3 SuperCar of the Volkswagen dealer in his native WorldRX round at Mettet.
2007 and 2008 European Rallycross Champion Michaël De Keersmaecker is set to do a one-off comeback in the Belgian round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Mettet, to be held on July 12 and 13 at the for Rallycross converted Circuit Jules Tacheny race track. Therefore, De Keersmaecker is going to rent the 550+bhp strong VW Scirocco Mk3 SuperCar of his fellow-countryman Jochen Coox. Tomorrow, during the Media Day for WorldRX Rd6, MDK will be at the venue when the new Rallycross track will be shown to the press.
“Over the winter we have started to built our own new Ford Fiesta SuperCar, based on the R5 model. Chassis and suspension will be prepared by VA Engineering in cooperation with Swedish company Tibuc. The engine will come from Callaghan, the drive-train from Unic. Our plan was to be ready for Mettet, but we postponed this project to wait for some new 2015 technical rules to be revealed. Therefore, we decided to do Mettet in Jochen’s car,” said Michaël De Keersmaecker today.
