Petter Solberg’s older brother Henning is set to replace Liam Doran in the FIA World Rallycross Championship round of Canada to drive a similar car as the WRX series leader in the Trois-Rivières event.
After the World Rally Championship (WRC) round of Finland, where Henning Solberg was hampered by a total of five punctures to finish no less than 12 minutes behind overall winner Finn Jari Matti Latvala, the Norwegian is preparing to race the almost 600bhp strong Citroën DS3 SuperCar of Briton Liam Doran in the WorldRX event of Canada the coming Thursday and Friday.
“They have asked me a fortnight ago. Liam Doran has seemingly lost his licence, so they need a replacement for him. As there are not too many free drivers available being able to fight among the top men they called me. This will be incredibly fun. I’m really looking forward to it. I’m going to race a Citröen that is on par with the cars of all other leading competitors. The goal is to fight for one of the top places – and perhaps to give Petter a helping hand on his way to become the World Rallycross Champion,” said the older of the siblings to the Norwegian press. Solberg has no idea yet if Canada will be one of some more races to do for the by Monster backed team or just a single guest appearance.
