Six-time Canadian Rally Champion Antoine L’Estage has confirmed he will race at tomorrow’s World RX of Canada as a late entry in the RX Lites Intercontinental Cup.

The Canadian will take the seat of America’s 16-year-old Mitchell DeJong who is unable to compete following a listeria infection [Listeriosis]. Antoine L’Estage currently holds six North American titles, six Canadian, one American (2010) and 44 Rally victories across Canada and the United States. The RX Lites Intercontinental Cup is a supporting event for the headline SuperCar category where Canadian stars Jacques Villeneuve and Patrick Carpentier will both compete.

“It’s a great opportunity that I just couldn’t pass up,” explained L’Estage who hails from Québec. “I had an initial plan of participating in the SuperCar class but I had to back out to due a lack of budget. Thanks to the 106.9 FM station, Andréas Eriksson and the Ford OlsbergsMSE team, who is providing me with the car, I will be there. It’s awesome!” Antoine L’Estage concluded: “I’m realistic, my only Rallycross experience dates back several years to the Los Angeles X Games. But the level wasn’t close to what we see in today’s FIA World Rallycross Championship.”

The seventh round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy will kick off on Friday at the GP3R street circuit in Trois-Rivières with Free Practice at 12.10 local time. Qualifying is scheduled at 14.40 with the SuperCar Semi-Finals and all-important Final from 19.30. The podium presentation will take place at 20.20.
