After running only one class of vehicles during the 2012 season, the GRC is pleased to announce the addition of the ‘Lites’ class for 2013.
The GRC Lites series will campaign alongside the GRC SuperCar championship in its five American races. The 300-horsepower spec cars are built by Olsbergs MSE, which has won the past two SuperCar championships with driver Tanner Foust, can be ordered directly from the team. The first 10 teams to order vehicles will receive a $20,000 discount from the regular price of $185,000.
Races will follow a similar format to the SuperCar events, with a 60-minute free practice session, 30-minute qualifying session, a number of heat races dependent on the entry list, last chance qualifier, and final. There will be two driver classifications – the overall standings, and the GRC ‘SuperCar Lites Rookie Cup’, for drivers who have yet to complete a full schedule of racing. Both will feature separate points and money distributions, while the Rookie Cup drivers are eligible for both classifications.
For the overall series champion, OMSE will offer a ride in the 2013 ‘Rallycross Battle of Champs’ in Swedens capital city Stockholm, November 22 and 23, and the GRC will support it.
