Liam Doran Motorsports is proud to announce Liam and Monster Energy have partnered with the world-renowned racecar preparations team Prodrive to develop a Rallycross spec MINI. Prodrive with Liam’s help will be converting a WRC spec MINI, making adjustments to meet Rallycross regulations, along with other minor modifications to prepare the car for the short sprint style racing.
“Prodrive are delighted to be working with Liam to bring the MINI to the Global RallyCross Championship. There is a huge growth in interest in Rallycross from fans, drivers and teams. It’s a dynamic and exciting sport and we know we are going to have to work very hard to make the MINI competitive against the more established competitors. It is however great to have Liam, a former X Games winner, to share his experience with us and to drive the MINI RX. Clearly our target is to be capable of podiums and ultimately victories in the Championship”, said Richard Taylor, Prodrive Business Development Director.
With Liam’s experience in Rallycross and Prodrive’s team expertise, with an impressive resume working with many high profile drivers over the years, together they are prepared to develop a competitive car to race in the remaining X Games in Barcelona, Munich, and Los Angeles, along with various GRC events in America.
“I am really excited about this project. I think Prodrive will bring a lot to Rallycross. After testing the MINI at Lydden I know the car will be competitive with some minor changes to get me some more power. It is a great car to drive and I really believe with the help of Prodrive and Monster Energy we can bring us home some gold”, Liam said of his new MINI RX.
Liam will continue to race his Citroën DS3 at European RX Championship events. Liam and Prodrive will debut the new MINI RX at X Games Barcelona in Spain on May 17 to 19.
