RX: Holten with Holte

Category: ERC, News Posted 29.05.13 11:12 by

Daniel Holten is set to race the European rounds in Hell and Höljes once again in Frode Holte’s Volvo C30/4 SuperCar where the Holten Motorsport team runs three cars in the three different classes.

Like in 2012 Holten Motorsport has agreed with Frode Holte that youngster Daniel Holten is going to drive the two Scandinavian rounds of the FIA European Rallycross Championship in the 4-cylinder equipped Volvo C30/4 SuperCar by the name of “Donna”. For Daniel Holten this is another opportunity to try his hands on a 550+bhp strong SuperCar, together with the best Rallycross drivers of Europe. Petter Solberg and Martin Schanche are his two great heroes, and now he gets the chance to drive with one of the two in the same class, with no less a person than 2003 World Rally Champion Petter Solberg. “Just to be with him on the same starting list is huge, and before I get to the start with him, either at the Lånkebanen or the Höljesbanan, I really become pretty nervous”, says Daniel Holten, who is also looking forward to drive against his former class-mate in the so-called ‘Star School’ in Torsby, Andreas Bakkerud, who is also running fast in the SuperCars category this year.

In 2012 Daniel Holten competed in these two races as well, but needed to cover most of the costs himself, while this time there are sponsors who pay for him to drive. “All is in progress, the goal is trying to come to an agreement for to do a full European Rallycross Championship season in SuperCars next year,” young Holten claims, and adds that a wider cooperation with Frode Holte may be the case. “Nothing is decided yet, but we have all discussed already. Frode Holte’s aim is to build an all-new Hyundai i20 SuperCar, and if he gets all fixed the plan is that I will continue to drive his Volvo,” tells Daniel, adding that he would like very much to start such a programme. “The cooperation with Frode Holte and his team worked very well last year, and Frode has been busy to figure out of how we could work with a new and better system from now on. Beside that I have a lot of good people around me who are doing a very good job to make this going to happen.”

It has been arranged that Holten Motorsport will be involved with three cars in the three different classes in June at Hell and in July at Höljes. Alongside Daniel in SuperCars it is Åsmund Holten who will be running his Citroën Saxo in Super1600s and Ernst Holten Leifsen with his rear-wheel driven Citroën DS3 in TouringCars.
