Marklund Motorsport with Polo drivers Timur Timerzyanov and Anton Marklund ready to take X Games Los Angeles by storm.

Marklund Motorsport add Russian driver Timur Timerzyanov to their growing roster of guest talent for the pinnacle GRC event of the season at Summer X Games in Los Angeles, California.

Having already played host to two-time WRC champion Carlos Sainz and DTM legend Mattias Ekström, the second Volkswagen Polo R has seen its fair share of action this season. After Ekström placed 4th and 5th at X Games Munich and 2nd in the sixth round of FIA Rallycross RX in Sweden, the Marklund team is hopeful for their first X Games podium, at Irwindale Event Center in California.

Defending FIA European Rallycross Champion and current 2013 championship leader Timerzyanov will enter into the headline RallyCross race, aiming for just as strong results on the global stage. Previously competing in X Games Munich in a Pastrana Racing Red Bull Dodge Dart, the young Russian driver looks forward to taking the day head on in the Marklund Motorsport 560hp Red Bull Volkswagen Polo R.

“Mattias Ekström proved, from the recent races in Munich and Sweden, that the car is running extremely well and if everything goes right on the day, I definitely think we can reach the podium with it. The car has got a great engine and I know the guy who built the chassis – I think it’s a really got a lot of potential,” enthused Timerzyanov.

Marklund Motorsport’s first driver, Anton Marklund, will compete in both the traditional Global RallyCross race and the Gymkhana Grid event, facing an obstacle course of hairpin turns, slaloms and 720-degree spins that will put him through his paces. Just missing out on the podium in the first competition and leaving the running after a clash with Scott Speed on the second day of X Games Munich, Marklund eagerly awaits the next installment to prove just what his car can do.

“I was gutted to not get a medal after getting so close on the first day of X Games Munich. After seeing exactly what the Polo can do in the hands of Mattias I know that the car is ready, I just need to step up my game a little and hopefully I’ll be a strong contender at X Games Los Angeles,” stated Marklund.
