After Norwegian Åsmund Holten and the two Swedes Patrik Flodin and Richard Göransson their compatriot Tobias Brink has announced to compete also in the SuperCar Lites class.
The Brink family from Skåne is well-known among Swedish racing fans. Father Tommy Brink (55) and his two sons Ted (26) and Tobias (25) have claimed quite a lot of good results at the Swedish tarmac tracks. After a couple of years in rallying team Brink Motorsport in 2002 started to go circuit racing again, mostly in one-make series. While Tommy made it to runner-up of the 2003 Volvo S60 Challenge it was his offspring Ted who claimed both, the 2004 Renault Clio Junior Cup and the 2005 Renault Junior Cup. In 2007 it was Tobias who made the Volvo S60 Junior Challenge his, as well as in 2009 the Ginetta G20 Cup. Tobias’ next two championship winning years were 2011 when he claimed the Camaro Junior Cup and 2012 when he took the Camaro Cup home.
For 2014 the family from Eslöv in the most southern Swedish province of Skåne has decided to take part in all events of the new RallyX championship that runs alongside the well established STCC series. On top of the five rounds national programme the WorldRX race at their native Höljes Motorstadion should become the pinnacle of their first ever Rallycross season. While Tobias is set to race one of the almost 320bhp strong RallyX Lites vehicles, his older brother Ted takes over the role as the team manager. “Rallycross will be something completely new to me. I see it as a big challenge, and certainly will have great respect. As a competitor you always want to win, and I will not use the 2014 season just to take part. But at the same time I see 2014 as a development year, both for myself and for our team,” said Tobias Brink who looks forward to the RallyX season kick-off on May 9 at his hometrack Ring Knutstorp in Skåne.
