2006 French Rallycross Champion Alexandre Theuil has announced to compete in six of the twelve 2014 WorldRX rounds.
Since 2003 the French Autocross Champion of 2001 and 2002 Alexandre Theuil is one of the leading Rallycross drivers in France. In 2006 Theuil claimed the French Rallycross title, using a well prepared VW Golf Mk4 SuperCar to beat Citroën Xsara campaigner Marc Laboulle to second place. In 2007 Theuil was a sporadic FRC competitor, and in 2008 and 2009 he took a break from Rallycross. Full-time back to the scene in 2010 Theuil was still using his Series 4 Golf 4×4, making it to 6th overall in Division 1. In 2011 he repeated his 6th place, but now he felt that it was time to start with something new. It took him almost two years to build his Citroën DS3 SuperCar for to debut it in last year’s French RallycrossRX event at Lohéac, but gave up early without any chance to make it into the Semi-Finals. However, six weeks later Theuil was back in action to finish 2013 with a fine second place behind event and series winner Jérôme Grosset-Janin in the final FRC round at Dreux.
Now the 35-year-old from the town of Cavaillon in the French Vaucluse department has confirmed to participate with his fine Citroën DS3 SuperCar in at least six of the twelve 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship rounds. “The time is right to move on and the World Rallycross series will suit me. IMG really looks after Rallycross stakeholders and their attitude with drivers has played an important role in my decision. I will be present at four of the five EuroRX rounds [Great Britain, Belgium, Germany and Italy] and will also take part in the WorldRX events of Portugal and my native Lohéac,” explained Alex Theuil today.
