With a FIA Central European Zone Rallycross Championship series round featuring at the Austrian Nordring and the French Rallycross Championship having its annual event at the Circuit de Lavaré the past weekend offered some nice pictures.
Fuglau/Austria: The Nordring at the village of Fuglau near Horn was the host for rounds of three national championship series (Austria, Czech Republic and Hungaria), while as icing on the cake the event counted also as Round 3 for the FIA Central European Zone Rallycross Championship. Austrian Rallycross veteran Alois Höller drove his Ford Focus Mk1 to victory in SuperCars, beating Hungarian Zoltán Harsányi (Mitsubishi Lancer E5) and fellow-countryman Tristan Ekker (VW Polo Mk4/9N) to second and third place respectively. The Super1600 class fell prey to the Hungarian youngster Marcell Kovács (Suzuki Swift Sport RS) and that Czech long runner Roman Častoral (Opel Astra G) took another victory of the well attended SuperNational category.
Lavaré/France: Round 5 of the French Rallycross Championship was held at the Circuit de Lavaré in Lavaré near Le Mans where in SuperCars Fabien Pailler (Peugeot 208) was able to beat series leader Jean-Baptiste Dubourg (Citroën C4) to second and Christophe Jouet (Citroën DS3) to third place. Thereby, the son of 1993 European Rallycross Champion Jean-Luc Pailler reduced the gap to Citroën campaigner Dubourg to two points. Andréa Dubourg (Renault Clio Mk2) made victory of the Super1600 category his, while Christophe Saunois (Toyota Corolla) bagged another win in Division 3. Division 4 saw Emmanuel Anne (Renault Clio Mk2) taking first place, while Thomas Petit (Renault Twingo) claimed Round 4 of the one-make Coupe Twingo R1 championship.
