A multiple Rallycross champion himself current Estonian mechanic for PSRX Sten Oja is set to drive the Citroën DS3 SuperCar formerly used by Alexander Hvaal in the coming WorldRX round of Canada.
Today the 19 SuperCars strong Entry List for the FIA World Rallycross Championship round at Trois-Rivières near Québec in Canada has been revealed, including the name of multiple Estonian Rallycross Champion Sten Oja. The former Lada Samara campaigner, who during the last years used a Mitsubishi Lancer E6 to claim the 4WD category of the 2011 FIA North European Zone Championship for Rallycross Drivers, is currently working as a mechanic with Petter Solberg’s PSRX squad.
22-year-old Oja told his native Estonian press: “Yes, we have got the offer to drive in Canada. For a WRX team two cars have to be at the start of each FIA World Rallycross Championship round, otherwise the team will be fined. PSRX decided to give me a chance. I do not have to pay anything for it, but I cannot test the car before the event. I need to get used to it during the practice sessions and the first heat. We’ll then see if the momentum is good enough. Since Norway’s Alexander Hvaal has left the team has only one car in the fight. I was also offered to continue driving the second car, but to do so I have to find a certain amount of money after Canada.”
