Subaru Rally Team USA and hat-trick European Rallycross Champion Sverre Isachsen will make an official attempt on the FIA World Rallycross Championship round of Canada, to be held at Trois-Rivières in the Québec region on August 7 and 8.
Norwegian Sverre Isachsen has just scored his best result for years by claiming second place overall in the Charlotte round of the Global RallyCross series last weekend, now the 2009, 2010 and 2011 European Rallycross Champion is set for a one-off guest drive in the WorldRX event of Canada.
Subaru stated that they are going to use the opportunity to take part in the FIA World Rallycross Championship round of Canada, now they have got the perfect chance to do so. The event will take place on August 7 and 8 at the Trois-Rivières GP3R circuit, not too far away from the USA-Canada border and the team’s headquarter ‘Vermont SportsCar’ in northern Vermont, one of the smallest of the 50 states of America. Team boss Lance Smith: “WorldRX of Canada will take place almost in our backyard. We saw it as a great opportunity to gain further experience while testing our mettle against another set of talented drivers and teams.”
Smith went on to say: “The Subaru Impreza GRC SuperCar won’t require many modifications to enter the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Although ultimately built to a different series’ rule-set Sverre’s car was generally built around current FIA regulations, so it will not be too difficult for us to join the event.”
Isachsen, who joined Subaru Rally Team USA in 2012, has been instrumental in building Subaru’s GRC program in America and is very excited to drive for Subaru in Canada. “Yes, I’m really stoked for Canada and for to compete in my first WRX round. It will be great to race again against some of the same teams and under the same race format from my successful years in Europe. We have put so much effort into developing the Subaru from scratch into something very competitive now, therefore I also hope for a good result.”
