WRX: Enerberg with Solberg

Category: News, WRX Posted 06.10.14 17:00 by

With French driver Davy Jeanney unable to complete the remaining races of the season, Lars Øivind Enerberg will contest the final two rounds of the WorldRX championship alongside Henning Solberg.

Driving a 600bhp LD Motorsports prepared and Monster Energy World RX Team run Citroën DS3 will be Enerberg’s  first taste of competitive SuperCar racing, both in Istanbul, Turkey on the 11th & 12th October, and San Luis, Argentina on the 27th & 28th of November. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old driver from Lena in Norway boasts a wealth of experience behind the wheel that belies his age. Having started his motorsport career in earnest in the Norwegian Junior Rally Championship at the age of 16, Enerberg has enjoyed consistent success at both a national and international level. In his inaugural European Rallycross Championship campaign – racing in the TouringCars class in 2010 – Enerberg scored three event wins. The next year, in 2011, he raced to victory in seven out of ten events and was crowned European champion. While budget has limited running in the past two seasons, Enerberg has still managed to win gold medals in Rallycross at National competitions in Norway.

Monster Energy World RX Team boss Liam Doran said: “It’s a huge shame that circumstances have left Davy unable to drive, it was a tough call to make. At the same time I am very excited about the prospect of Lars driving our car. He showed incredible speed during testing, and I was also very impressed with how quickly he was able to take instruction from our engineers and apply it. Even though it is the last two races of the year, it’s very exciting to have such a big talent join the team.”

Lars added: “I can’t wait to drive for the team and do the best I can. It will be a challenge for sure, as the level is very high, but I am 100% focused on at least fighting for a place in the semi finals, if not more. The torque and acceleration of the SuperCars are very impressive, and I enjoyed the testing I completed in Lohéac. Even though it was a big step from the TouringCar I raced before I felt comfortable in the car.”
