Greinbach: Full house ROAC

Category: Miscellaneous, News Posted 13.11.14 18:18 by

Coming Sunday the Rallycross venue PS Racing Center at Greinbach will see the 4th running of the so-called ‘Race Of Austrian Champions’ and the organisers have released an entry list with almost 80 drivers from the disciplines Rallycross, Rallying and Autocross.

“The interest of the drivers in our 4th Race of Austrian Champions event is bigger than in the previous runnings. We received almost 80 entries from the ranges of Rallycross, Rallying and Autocross – that’s sheer madness! Especially the Rally class is bursting at the seams,” claims Erich Petrakovits, manager of the well-known Styrian Rallycross venue. Racing is scheduled to start at 9:00 CET and should be finished by 16:15 in the afternoon.

The latest entry list has 35 names for the Rally category on offer, shared over the three car classes 4WD Cars, 2WD Cars and Vintage Cars. Some of its drivers have started their careers in Rallycross, like Peugeot 207 S2000 campaigner Walter Mayer, still famous for his successful VW Beetle and Audi quattro outings in Austrian and European Rallycross Championship rounds of the 1970s and 1980s.

Among the 21 entries of the 4WD and 2WD Rallycross classes the top entry is former World Rally Championship regular and 2000 PWRC title winner Manfred Stohl. The son of Austrian Rally legend Rudi Stohl is set to drive a Ford Fiesta SuperCar made by Olsbergs MSE in the Greinbach ROAC, but will be seen in proper Rallycross action just two weeks later. During yesterday’s practice sessions at the PS Racing Center it leaked that Stohl, a friend of the Solberg brothers Petter and Henning, is going to race the second Citroën DS3 SuperCar of the PSRX team in the World RX Finale at San Luis in Argentina on November 28 and 29.
