ERX: Kiss to drive ERX Campaign

Category: ERX, News Posted 19.02.16 12:50 by

Former single-seater racer Tamas Pal Kiss will contest full FIA European Rallycross Championship series, in former Team Peugeot Hansen 208.

Today it’s been revealed that Hungary’s Tamas Pal Kiss will contest full Euro RX campaign. Kiss will drive a former Team Peugeot-Hansen Peugeot 208 RX Supercar.

Kiss made his Euro RX debut at the Italian round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship last season. He qualified on the front row of the final but was ruled out by a technical problem. The former front-running GP3 driver since bought the 208 WRX he raced in Italy from the Hansen team. It will be run this season by Speed Box Racing.

“I’m really excited to be able to commit to a full season of Euro RX in such a fantastic car. We wanted the best car available and we’ve built a good relationship with the Hansen family,” said Kiss. “I would like to be on the podium a couple of times this year, and we have a clear target to try and win the Hungarian championship too.”

The former circuit-racing driver feels he has chosen the right time to move into rallycross, and is excited about the season ahead. “We realised the potential of the sport and the new era on time. I have been looking for full year of international challenges and for sure I have made a correct decision. The format is very exciting for spectators, partners and television. I can see me doing this for a long time.”

Team Peugeot-Hansen team principle, Kenneth Hansen, will continue to offer advice to Kiss in his inaugural season with the car. “We’ve known Tamas since the days he and Timmy (Hansen) did circuit racing together. He is a highly skilled driver and with the speed he has, we believe he will have a successful future in the Peugeot 208 WRX,” he said.
