RallyX Ice: Eriksson pushing hard

Category: Miscellaneous, News Posted 03.03.16 18:34 by

As the winter-series RallyX On Ice enters round three of four in Trysil, Norway – OMSE driver Kevin Eriksson leads at the top of the standings ahead of Alexander Westlund going in to the penultimate event to be held this weekend.

The third event of the winter-series RallyX On Ice, gets underway this weekend (March 4th). After the premiere in Piteå and the second event in Lindvallen,  Trysil in Norway is next. OMSE-driver Kevin Eriksson’s consistency has been key to his ascension to the top of the championship standings, just ahead of Alexander Westlund. Although Eriksson has set a clear goal ahead of Trysil:

“It´s only the victories that count for me, I’m happy being the overall leader but not satisfied with the two-second places! Now its time for me to advance to the top step of the podium.” Says Eriksson, brimming with confidence ahead of Trysil.

Perhaps the biggest threat to Eriksson in the standings is from a driver the he knows very well. Alexander Westlund started his career in Supercar-lites during the 2013 GRC-season when he and Eriksson drove together for SET-promotion. Now Westlund is second in the overall standings and is aiming for his third podium of the season. Also aiming high is the super-rookie Miki Weckström who caught the RallyX On Ice by surprise in his first event. Weckström was the only one with the pace to match the superior event-winner Göransson. HIs successful start even took Weckström by surprise.

“There are no big expectations ahead of the event in Trysil. I’m still learning a lot, the main target is to be more consistent and drive without making any mistakes. And then we will see where that takes us” says Weckström.

For the Norwegian fans there are a couple of really interesting names to cheer on. Besides the 2015 Rx-lites star Thomas Bryntesson both of the youngsters Thomas Holmen and Sondre Evjen made their way to the final in Lindvallen. Now Holmen is aiming even higher when RallyX On Ice hits home soil.

“Now it’s time for the podium in Trysil! It´s so tight in the top of this championship, so everything is up for grabs. I’m only six points away from clinching the third spot overall so now it´s time for a big push,” said Thomas Holmen ahead of the home event in Norway.
