Category: News, WRX Posted 20.04.16 16:57 by

Danny Way will join JRM Racing for the second half of the 2016 WRX season to compete with a JRM Mini RX Supercar from round seven at the Circuit Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières.

The well-known American skateboarder and occasional ‘Rallycrosser’ is returning to JRM racing in 2016, to compete for the second half of the season, with a view of a full season in 2017.

Way who was in Portugal last weekend as a spectator, confirmed the news via his Facebook account on Monday:

“I’m super hyped that after a long 5 year journey, my relentless ambition to prove my ability to drive a Rallycross Supercar has finally paid off. Just signed with JRM Racing to drive the JRM Mini Rallycross Supercar for the second half of the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship,” revealed Way.

“We will prepare for a full 12 rounds in 2017. My first race will be round 7 in Montreal, Canada on August 5th at the Circuit Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. I’m so very grateful for this opportunity because it did not come easy. Thank you to Jason King and Peter Gwynne Motorsport.”

JRM have yet to confirm this announcement, and what arrangements would be made for the team. It is understood that Liam Doran, who qualified for last weekend’s semi-final in Portugal, is to form part of a two car team when Way is onboard for the World RX of Canada. When asked whether he is to only compete in the first half of the season, Doran remarked: “That’s not the case, I’m doing the whole season!!”
