WRX: Linnemann secures SC drive

Category: News, WRX Posted 28.04.16 14:10 by

The long-time Super1600 campaigner Ulrik Linnemann is to make his Supercar debut at the Belgian Round three event in Mettet.

FIA World Rallycross have confirmed the Supercar entry of Denmark’s Ulrik Linnemann. Linnemann will make his Rallycross Supercar debut at the first round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship at Mettet in Belgium.

Linnemann won the first round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship supporting Super1600 category at Montalegre in Portugal driving his Linnemann Motorsport prepared Peugeot 208. He will also race a Peugeot 208 on his Supercar debut, driving for the Pailler Competition team alongside France’s Fabien Pailler.

“It feels really nice that my Supercar debut is so close now. It’s a big dream for me to have a seat in one of these amazing cars. I did a test with the Supercar and Jean-Luc Pailler was really happy after just a few laps. The car was easy to handle, so I was happy too. My 208 and the Supercar only look the same, everything else is different,” said Linnemann.

The Dane is a Drive for Life charity ambassador, and hopes he can also race at the Norwegian round of the championship in Hell. “The best drivers in Europe are in Euro RX, so it will be really hard to reach the semi-finals in Belgium. But, I really hope I can do it. Somebody once told me ‘if you can dream it – you can do it’, so let’s see. Our budget is still really small, but I would love to drive in Norway as well, in front of a lot of the Drive for Life kids.”

Aside from his Supercar debut, Linnemann says his focus remains on trying to win the Super1600 championship this season. “It is a dream to become a permanent Supercar driver, but we will fight for the Super1600 title this year, to win that is the target.”
