Circuit racer Timmy Hansen, the son of 14 times European Rallycross Champion Kenneth Hansen, is ready for an ERC test drive at Kouvola in Finland.
It was decided only yesterday evening by the Hansen family that Timmy, the first born son of Kenneth and Susann and a successful open wheeler circuit racer, is going to take part in the coming Finnish ERC round at Kouvola. Therefore, the 20-year-old is able to use the first by Hansen Motorsport built Citroën DS3 SuperCar, the 545bhp car driven by Johan Larsson last weekend to fifth place at the Kinnekulle Ring. Prior to the SRC Finale the DS3 was the first 2012 car of Timur Timerzyanov, the Russian claimed both his victories in Greinbach and Nyirád with it. After the Hungarian ERC round the HM DS3 went to Citroën Racing in France where it was further prepared for Sébastien Loeb’s X Games Gold Medal success in the United States.
“This is a great opportunity for me. I always loved Rallycross and this can really become a lot of fun! I did not drive the car yet, but there will be a test drive in Finland this week. The whole race project for me was set up with big support by my sponsor for many a year, Olsbergs. For the moment my racing career is going in a very positive direction, and for next year there are several offers for me of what to drive. And for sure the ERC in a DS3 is one of them, but time will tell. Things are not decided at all for the time being. For this year I will only drive in Finland. What is tempting me for next year’s ERC are the good plans the new promoter IMG is working on these days. I think they can be very good for the ERC, and that this will bring Rallycross up to where the sport deserves to be,” claimed Hansen junior in a phone call with ERC24 earlier this morning.
