In an interview with the Finnish website MTV3.fi double WRC winner Marcus Grönholm said “my family does not need to be called to the hospital”…

Since his bad accident during practice drives for the 2012 X Games in Los Angeles last Summer both Rally and Rallycross fans are awaiting an announcement of Finnish motorsport legend Marcus Grönholm about his further steps. On January 31 the former WRC star and later Global RallyCross Championship (GRC) regular has stated in an interview with MTV3.fi that he has currently no plans to return to any form of racing. After he lost consciousness in a hard ramp-jump landing “Magic Marcus” crashed badly into a concret barrier of the temporary X Games Rallycross track. The Finn was subsequently cut ouf of his 560+bhp OMSE Ford Fiesta Mk7 SuperCar by the event’s rescue team. He then spend some time in a hospital in LA before returning to Finland to start an extensive rehabilitation programme.

I am now fully recovered and there are no after-effects. It was really a big accident,” Grönholm claimed and made it clear that he has no plans to race this year. “Frankly, I promised my people that they no longer need to come and get me back from a hospital in America. The accident made me think about a lot of things. Racing is not all there is, and now I’m busy with a rather normal life. Less travelling and more time to spend around the shopping center of Inkoo [aka Ingå, his home town],” the Finn told his compatriots.
