From the Benelux countries ERC24 has learned today that 2001 European Rallycross Champion of Division 2 Belgian Ronny Scheveneels has decided to race in no less than four different series this year.

Beside his native Belgian championship he is trying to do the Rallycross championship series of his neighboring country Holland. Moreover will the Volkswagen campaigner be seen at the starting grids of as many as possible European Rallycross Challenge rounds. His Scirocco SuperCar has been overhauled during the winter and team Scheveneels Motorsport is confident that some of the previous problems are solved now. “After some updates to the car and subsequent test drives we are looking forward to the season start on March 3 at Maasmechelen with good mood”, was stated from Scheveneels’ hometown of Balen.

While the Scirocco Mk3 is the SuperCar that will be used for the BRC, NLRC and the Challenge Scheveneels is set to race a Peugeot 207 SuperCar of Pailler Compétition in at least three rounds of the FIA/IMG European Rallycross Championship. “The plan is to do the season opener at Lydden Hill in England and the French round at Lohéac, while for the third event we have not decided yet”, is the info from the Belgian team. We understood that the Pailler 207 has been rebuilt and is equipped with a new engine now that offers more power output than the one that was used by Ronny Scheveneels in three 2012 Rallycross events (ERC Valkenswaard, ERC Buxtehude, FRC Essay2).

Update of February 18, 15:15: Fresh info from Belgium indicates now that Ronny Scheveneels is going to participate in more than just three of the nine scheduled rounds counting for the 2013 FIA/IMG ERX series. More info to follow.
