RX Lites confirms World RX of Argentina SuperCar prize.

RX Lites, which will be a support series to the newly-formed FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy (World RX), has confirmed that the 2014 winner of the RX Lites series will be awarded with a drive in a 600bhp SuperCar run by OlsbergsMSE at the World RX season-finale in Argentina.

The RX Lites series will be run by First Corner, a London-based marketing company, and the cars will be delivered by Swedish Rallycross specialists and multiple title-winning OlsbergsMSE with help from Avitas Motorsport. Drivers and cars will make an appearance at World RX’s media launch in Italy in April and will be present as a support series at seven Championship rounds: Portugal, Great Britain, Finland, Sweden, Canada, Italy and Turkey.

World RX has already elicited a tremendous response since it evolved from the FIA European Rallycross Championship, and the arrival of RX Lites is set to further rev up interest in what is sure to be one of the most popular and entertaining motorsport series on the planet. With its multi-year contract, the aim is to support WRX as well as to allow newcomers or young drivers the opportunity to become future Rallycross stars. As a single-spec formula, all RX Lites entrants will compete in identical 310bhp, all-wheel-drive, rear-engined machinery, prioritising driver skill and close, wheel-to-wheel racing over any other parameter while keeping costs strictly to a minimum.

FirstCorner offers a comprehensive package to RX Lites competitors including TV coverage, video content and photos from each event. On the technical side, an RX Lites spare parts truck will follow the series to support the drivers on-event. This operation will be run by Set Promotion throughout the season.  The RX Lites hospitality unit will also be available at five rounds: Great Britain, Finland, Sweden, Italy and Turkey. The 2014 RX Lites winner will be awarded with a SuperCar drive at World RX of Argentina in November, while second and third placed drivers will have the chance to experience a full test day in an Olsbergs MSE’s SuperCar.

“We are delighted that RX Lites will be an integral part as a support series to the new FIA World Rallycross Championship in 2014 and beyond,” said Martin Anayi, Managing Director of Championship promoter IMG Motorsport. “The formula is a proven success, and with organisations of the calibre of OlsbergsMSE and Avitas Motorsport behind the project, we are confident that entries will fill up fast. These are incredibly exciting times for the sport of Rallycross, and RX Lites will provide spectators with even more thrilling, doorhandle-to-doorhandle, edge-of-the-seat action over the coming months – as well as introducing fans to a whole new generation of talent.”

Jussi Pinomäki concluded: “As Rallycross becomes one of the most attractive motorsport events, RX Lites will carry an important role for its future and will provide additional excitement for Rallycross fans throughout the season. For those who have dreams of being future motorsport stars, RX Lites is the best choice due to its reasonable budget and exposure as a support series to a World Championship audience.”
