WRX: Stohl with PSRX

Category: News, WRX Posted 18.11.14 11:00 by

As ERC24 has mentioned a couple of days ago Austrian former WRC ace Manfred Stohl is joining his friend Petter Solberg to drive the second Citroën DS3 SuperCar of the PSRX team in the World RX final round of Argentina.

Former WRC star Manfred Stohl will compete in the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy, Round 12, Total Rallycross of Argentina, later this month (28 to 29 November). Stohl – who contested more than 100 WRC events between 1991 and 2012 – will make his RX debut alongside Petter Solberg in a second PSRX-run Citroën DS3 Supercar. Born in Vienna, Austria, Stohl is already familiar with the location of the final round of World RX having competed in several national rally events in San Luis.

“I have lots of friends in Argentina from my rallying days and it will be nice to go back to San Luis where I competed in national rallies and got to know the area well,” explained Stohl. “Petter and I have been good friends for a long time and I have visited him at some RX events in the past. Now, thanks to Petter, I have the unique opportunity to drive an RX Supercar in Argentina alongside the new World RX Champion.”

Stohl tested a Ford Fiesta RX Supercar in Austria at last week’s Race of Austrian Champions (ROAC) in Greinbach, but will not have the opportunity to test the PSRX Citroën DS3 Supercar ahead of Argentina. “The cars were already on their way to Argentina when it was confirmed that I would be joining Petter in the PSRX team so unfortunately there hasn’t been any time to test but I’m really looking forward to the race and want to get as much experience of RX as possible,” concluded Stohl.
