14 times ERC winner Kenneth Hansen back in a Rallycross SuperCar for the Swedish championship final this weekend.
Kenneth Hansen is making a comeback in Rallycross at his home circuit Kinnekulle Ring where the final round of the Swedish championship is taking place on September 8. “Watch out, I’m hungry,” Kenneth says with a big smile. “The Citroën DS3, that I will drive at Kinnekulle, is the one leading the European championship with our Russian driver Timur Timerzyanov, so it will be a great pleasure for me to drive it.”
Kenneth Hansen finished his racing career two years ago and are nowadays team manager of the Rallycross team, which at the moment is first and third in the SuperCars class of the ERC. In the team he has also Eric Färén in Super1600s and his 14 years old son Kevin Hansen in the junior Rallycross series, the JRX Cup. “Of course I miss driving these awesome cars more often,” Kenneth says. “The acceleration is fantastic, drivability wonderful and it is an unforgettable feeling having over 550 bhp in your hands. So when the opportunity to race at Kinnekulle occurred I didn’t hesitate. I wanted to drive!”
Kenneth will have company in the team on Saturday by three other drivers from his local town of Götene. His youngest son Kevin will drive his Citroën DS3 JRX car, a new class that has never raced at the Kinnekulle Ring before. The two brothers Johan Larsson and Eric Färén also take the opportunity to drive on their home circuit, Eric in his Super1600 Citroën C2, in which he normally does the European championship. Johan is making his debut in the SuperCars category in the second Hansen Motorsport Citroën DS3, in which no-one less than eight times World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb claimed his X Games gold medal earlier this summer in Los Angeles.
“Götene Motor Club will probably make the best ever Rallycross race in many years,” Kenneth says. “The driver line-up is good, with both Swedish and Norwegian drivers at the startline. I will do everything I can to add-up to a great show for the spectators this weekend.”
