The Estering at Buxtehude near Hamburg is ready and waiting for the contenders of the 2012 European Rallycross Championship final round.

Just another four weeks to go and both, the Estering as well as Buxtehude will be back on stage again – the Finale of the 2012 European Rallycross Championship (ERC) is yet to come. On September 29 and 30 the European championship will return to the track near Buxtehude by tradition, the date is well known in the pan-European Rallycross scene.

Having just finished Round 5 of the DRX German Rallycross Championship the team of the organising club ACN is in crunch mode for the last race of the season. On top of that the club is also preparing for a great season finishing party in the well known ‘Mic Mac’ disco in Moisburg. The latest final party there was in 2008 and is still worth a lot of stories to remind. It has always been a good chance for fans and friends to come a bit closer to their heroes.

The season so far passed by with the motto “change of power in the European championship”. Many young drivers rushed into the series so that the “establishment” really had to take care of their successes so far. Taking a look on the TouringCars – guys like the two Swedes Robin Larsson (son of former double European champion Lars “Lasse” Larsson) and Anton Marklund became the ones to be beaten by the established ones like Irishman Derek Tohill or Koen Pauwels from Belgium – not the other way around.

Also the Super1600s class was in a big change, as Jussi Pinomäki recruited several extremely well skilled young drivers from Finland and Russia. That ended up in a teamfight between reigning Euro champ Andreas Bakkerud from Norway and his teammates. But it was always big fun for the drivers and spectators alike to see how good these young talents are. A young man from Denmark became also very successful this season, after he claimed his first ERC victory in Austria. Ulrik Linnemann is his name and today it looks as if he could be the only one to hinder Bakkerud from winning his second consecutive Super1600 title.

In the SuperCars category the situation is somewhat more clear, due to the fact that Russian Timur Timerzyanov is the driver to beat this season. Perfect driving skills, a very strong and powerful team in the hands of multiple champion Kenneth Hansen in the back and a bit of advantage that his main rival Tanner Foust from the USA wasn’t able to take part in all of the championship races (he had to drop two events due to clashes with the GRC). However, the outcome is still open till the penultimate ERC round in Finland, the week before Buxtehude.

It will become a very spectacular and thrilling weekend in Buxtehude, a weekend the ACN did not have for a very long time. All fans of this amazing motorsport and friends of the “home of German Rallycross” are going to have a great time at the end of September – so don’t miss it!

The training sessions are due to start at 10.00h on Saturday, the warm-up on Sunday starts at 8.30h and the finals will lead to the end the raceday from 14.00h on. The team of the ACN is looking forward to welcome spectators from many different nations – following the club’s old slogan: “We bring Europe to Buxtehude!”
