Enerberg’s threat of ERC absence

Category: April, ERC, News Posted 05.04.12 21:14 by

Reigning European Rallycross Champion in TouringCars Norwegian Lars Øivind Enerberg reports to ERC24.com that the likelihood of driving this year is very slim.

Reigning TouringCar champion, Norwegian ‘young gun’ Lars Øivind Enerberg has today confirmed that last minute issues with sponsorship may have destroyed his hopes in defending his title this year. The Ford Fiesta Mk6 RWD campaigner from Lena told ERC24 earlier this morning that at the moment “the team has no money”.

“At this moment in time it does not look very likely that we will drive the ERC series this season. We have no confirmed sponsors, and this is the fault of guys that were meant to be communicating with sponsors that instead did not,” claimed a less than optimistic Enerberg earlier on.

“Obviously I hope we can drive, and we will have to see. I myself do not know, if we can make some late deals then we might be at Lydden Hill or we might not, but at the moment we have no money at all and are not sure what will happen this season,” told the Ford Fiesta Mk6 driver ERC24.

This comes after various rumours that had said that Enerberg would not drive this season. Weeks earlier the team had published photos that showed the team making progress on the car for this season, and a late TouringCar entry to round one in around a weeks’ time left fans slightly optimistic. Although a ‘Facebook’ release this morning confirmed many rumours stating: “No ERC in 2012… Life sucks…”.

Enerberg states that the team are simply not sure what will happen now, but as the opening round in England gets closer the squad will have to move fast to confirm sponsorship deals in time.
