Nordgård gears up for round one

Category: April, ERC, News Posted 05.04.12 21:08 by

Norwegian TouringCar driver David Nordgård completes final tests before Lydden.

David Nordgård will return to TouringCars in the ERC in nine days time, and today completed his final testing session in his refurbished Focus Mk2 at his local track in Skien, Norway, the ‘Grenland Motorsport Senter’. Despite the circuit not being fully opened Nordgård was able to test the car on the tarmac section of the track. Apart from noticeable changes to the Focus Mk2, such as the livery, the car has a highly tuned Zomer engine.

“The car went really well and was very responsive. Different settings on the suspension and rear axel were tried out to produce maximum grip. At the end of the test it started to go in the right direction, but there is still time for improvement,” said Nordgård.

The team reported that they are hoping to find time for a second test, before traveling to Lydden Hill on Monday the 2nd of April. Time is now against the team and the sponsor hunt is still going on; so the team is hoping that someone will find an interest in sponsoring them. Although this has not affected David’s confidence: “I’m really fired up, and cant wait to throw some dirt on the Rallycross tracks again,” said the Norwegian after his testing sessions.

The 23-year-old entered Rallycross late in 2010, already encountering other forms of motorsport. The son of former Rallycrosser Per-Egil Nordgård, David enters this season after a debut season in the ERC in 2011 where he gained a sixth place overall finish in his first full year.
