Toomas Heikkinen from Joensuu in Finland signs with the OlsbergsMSE Ford team to continue competing in the Global RallyCross Championship series.

Finn Toomas “Topi” Heikkinen has signed a contract with the OlsbergsMSE Ford factory team for a total of 9 rounds, including 4 Global X Games events and 5 Global RallyCross Championship  rounds. In all of the races Heikkinen will use the latest specification OlsbergsMSE Ford Fiesta ST SuperCar.

“I’m really happy for this dream deal with OMSE Ford, this is a great opportunity for me”, says Heikkinen. “Last year was not perfect for me, but I had good speed through the year. This year I’m expecting clean runs and podium finishes. I did three days of testing with the new Ford Fiesta ST SuperCar and I think OMSE has improved the car a lot. I’m ready to race now”, claims the 22-year-old.

As his American teammates Toomas will get reigning GRC champion Tanner Foust, 2012 GRC silver medalist Brian Deegan, and former Rally driver Patrik Sandell from Sweden. This year the Global RallyCross Championship will also compete in Europe (Barcelona in Spain and Munich in Germany), as part of the international Global X Games events. The season takes off with the X Games of Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil, to be held over the coming weekend.
