This weekend Patrik Sandell will make his Rallycross debut as the Global RallyCross Championship kicks off the season at Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil.

Swede Patrik Sandell will do a full season for OMSE/Ford U.S. The première race is held together with Global X Games, making a victory even more prestigious. “Everyone wants to win this just so bad. X Games is a spectacular event and now when it’s expanding outside the United States the interest is huge. It’s close to reaching boiling point here in Brazil”, says Sandell.

The Rallycross section of X Games begins on Friday with a test run. Saturday it’s qualifying and on Sunday it’s time for the finals, where the winner of both, X Games in Brazil and the first round of the Global RallyCross Championship will be determined. “Everything feels great for the première. We had a good test last week in Europe and I really love driving the car. 600bhp … do I need to say more?”, the former WRC driver states.

Sandell has long been established in international rallying. But with the leap to Global RallyCross Championship, it’s partly back to school for the Swede. ” I know how to be fast, but now I also have to learn how to manage with many cars on the track at the same time. But I think I will do just fine. I feel really excited about it and longing just to get started now”, claims Sandell.
