RX: Nitišs’ SuperCar spotting

Category: ERC, News Posted 30.09.13 18:50 by

The new European Rallycross Champion in Super1600s Reinis Nitišs is set to drive a TT Motorsport Citroën C4 SuperCar in the Finale of the Swedish Rallycross Championship at the Kinnekulle Ring soon.

Reinis Nitišs is the second youngest European Rallycross Champion ever. When the Latvian youngster bagged the 2013 ERC title in Super1600s, on September 15 at the PS Racing Center in Greinbach, being just 17 years and 273 days of age, he was only 9 days older than current record holder Mats Lysen on September 9 2009. By then the Norwegian claimed the European Division 1A title at Słomczyn in Poland while being 17 years and 264 days old.

Now Nitišs is looking forward to drive a SuperCar in Sweden and is also making plans for 2014. The 17-years-old has been entered by the Latvian team TT Motorsport to drive their Citroën C4 SuperCar in the final round of the Swedish Rallycross Championship at the Ring Kinnekulle near Götene on Saturday October 5.

“This will be a good test and some valuable experience for next year. In Kinnekulle I will try out the Citroën C4 of TT Motorsport for the Swedish championship Finale. And later on there will be a track test with a VW Polo Mk5 SuperCar of Anton Marklund. As promised by IMG, over a total of 16 laps. I can’t wait till this is going to happen! I’m so happy for all this to come true now; but it couldn’t have happened without my family,” said Nitišs this afternoon during an exclusive chat.

“I’m currently very busy with the media in Latvia, since I’m so popular for being the first ever European Rallycross Champion in my country’s history. My father is working with potential sponsors now. If I can get enough money together, hence a normal budget for a SuperCar, I will be in the SuperCars category and then together with Petter Solberg on the track,” claimed the enthusiastic teenager to ERC24.
