Reigning French Rallycross champ Jérôme Grosset-Janin has announced an attempt to win the 2014 FIA European Rallycross Championship title for SuperCar drivers.
In 2013 Jérôme Grosset-Janin has won the French Rallycross title by competing in just seven of the nine organised FRC rounds. For 2014 the 29-year-old has today confirmed a full European programme, the Renault campaigner has set his focus on the EuroRX title in SuperCars. The series will be run over a total of five of the WorldRX events, and the driver of the team Chanoine Compétition will also contest the French WRX round in September at Lohéac as well as the FRC event in October at Dreux, the home-town of the Chanoine team. His machinery will be the completely overhauled and further developed Renault Clio Mk3 SuperCar, the vehicle he used in 2013 to dominate his native championship series.
Team boss Philippe Chanoine (4th overall of the 1995 FRC with Renault 19 Quadra): “After taking the French title last year, we wanted to aim higher in 2014. Our main target is to do well in Europe, but also to finish with a good result at our home race in Lohéac, which will hopefully help us to find new partners to enter WorldRX in 2015.”
Grosset-Janin: “I am very proud of representing France this year – it is a big opportunity, and I would like to thank all the people that have made this possible. There’s no denying the competition will be very high, especially with experienced drivers like Jacques Villeneuve and Petter Solberg being part of the Championship, but I will concentrate on the European title and I hope that we will deliver some outstanding races at the same time.”
