ERX: Salsten steps up

Category: ERX, News Posted 09.05.16 11:51 by

The Swedish driver Fredrik Salsten has this morning announced plans to compete in the 2016 FIA European Rallycross Championship in a Peugeot 208 Supercar.

Fredrik Salsten, the TouringCar Champion 2015, is stepping up and will drive in the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercars in 2016. In a cooperation between Hansen Talent Development and Salsten Racing he will drive a Peugeot 208 WRX in all five events.

Salsten, who won 3 of 5 races last year, have always had a dream of driving a Championship in a Supercar. In the Euro RX in Barcelona last year he tried a Supercar for the first time and he showed that his experience as a driver is good enough for giving even the best drivers a match on the racetrack. There he qualified for pole position in the Semi Final.

Kenneth Hansen, Team Principal for Hansen Talent Development, is glad to welcome Salsten as a new recruit in his Team. “Fredrik is a talent and with the right preparation together with our team I am looking forward to see him on the podium more than once this year.”

Fredrik has been with the Swedish National team trained this winter. “I feel better prepared than ever before a season and I know it’s needed because the competition in Supercar is much harder” he says.

“I am really looking forward to feeling the horsepower in the Supercar when I release the clutch on the Startgrid.”

Fredrik will compete for HTD Salsten Racing in the FIA European Championship in Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Spain and Latvia.
