The two Free Practice sessions and the runs for the Official Practice times have been completed, showing the two SuperCar title aspirants TT and TF in completely different situations.
Bright sunshine over the Eurocircuit near Eindhoven and day one of the Dutch round of the ERC is on with a bang. While Russian title chaser Timur Timerzyanov has teached all his competitors another lesson by setting the fastest times in both in the first and second Free Practice as well as in Timed Practice all went wrong for his main opponent American Tanner Foust.
The Ford driver was the runner-up to “TT” in the first Free Practice runs, but had to retire with a defective engine in his Fiesta Mk7 SuperCar in the second lap of his second practice attempt. Now the OMSE team is changing the motor of the car, with the result that the Yankee will tomorrow, prior to the finals, be downgraded eight places from his scored qualification result.
After Free Practice ERC returnee Andy Scott told his mechanics to change the centre diff of his Ford Focus Mk2, the Brit feared it would not last much longer. All work was done in due time and the in Scotland living Englishman made it to eighth place in Timed Practice.
In the Super1600s category Dane Ulrik Linnemann was fastest in the first Free Practice, Jussi-Petteri Leppihalme set the fastest time in the second runs and also in the Official Timed Practice. The TouringCars field saw three different drivers taking the wins: Belgian Koen Pauwels was fastest in Free Practice 1, Swede Robin Larsson fastest in FP2 and Irishman Derek Tohill was quickest of all in the second lap of his Timed Practice.
