The Global RallyCross Championship is set to stage a race at the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas on October 30.

 

The Global RallyCross Championship (GRC) will bring the spectacle of Rallycross racing to the 2012 SEMA Show, the largest automotive industry event of it’s kind, this October 30th. “We have been working hard with the team at SEMA and are thrilled that we will be racing at this year’s event. It will be a great opportunity to showcase the incredible technology of Rallycross cars in front of this amazing gathering of aftermarket suppliers from around the world. We want to open their eyes to the excitement of Rallycross, and show the world how cool these production-based B and C segment cars are,” explained Brian Gale, GRC’s Co-Founder and President.

The race will take place on the opening night at SEMA, Tuesday October 30th on a course specially constructed on Las Vegas Convention Center grounds, directly across from the convention hall. “Motorsports inspires and motivates millions of consumers around the world,” said Chris Kersting, SEMA President and CEO. “We’re excited that GRC is coming to Las Vegas during the SEMA Show week, as it will give entrepreneurs from our industry a first-hand look at the opportunities this burgeoning sport represents and the new consumer demographic is attracts.”

Global RallyCross will also be featured in SEMA’s Racing and Performance Forum at 1: 00 PM on October 30th. The Forum will be moderated by John Waraniak, SEMA Vice President of Vehicle Technology and include Jamie Allison, Director of Ford Racing, Jim Campbell, Vice President of General Motors Performance Vehicles and Motorsports and Ralph Gilles, President and CEO of Street and Racing Technology Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group. “We want to thank the leadership at SEMA for working with us to add this event to our 2012 calendar, it is an amazing opportunity that we couldn’t pass up and see it as being the perfect follow up to our event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on September 29th where the $25,000 Discount Tire Cup will be decided,” added Gale. Several of the sport’s biggest names are in contention including Travis Pastrana, winner of the last round at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Ken Block of WRC and Gymkhana 5 fame, Top Gear USA’s Tanner Foust and drifting champion Samuel Hübinette, it is going to be an amazing battle. The event will be televised on the ESPN networks.
