Albatec, the team of Briton Andy Scott, studied data last night and after discussion with its partner Oreca, agreed that to continue running this weekend could result in a terminal engine problem. The team therefore withdraw from this weekend to concentrate on continuing its development of the Peugeot 208 SuperCar ahead of the next round in Norway.
Liam Doran, who arrived as the last competitor at Kouvola, is the first of the following order after Saturday’s two qualifying heats, in which the Briton set a fastest and a third fastest time.
Kouvola: Petter Solberg marked the fastest time in Heat 2 of the SuperCars, followed by Topi Heikkinen, Liam Doran, Tanner Foust, Timmy Hansen and Andreas Bakkerud. In Super1600s it was Ildar Rakhmatullin who set the fastest time and fastest in TouringCars was again Derek Tohill.
Kouvola: Heat 1 in SuperCars was claimed by Briton Liam Doran, ahead of American Tanner Foust, Russian Timur Timerzyanov, Frenchman Davy Jeanney, Norwegian Petter Solberg, and fellow-Norwegian Andreas Bakkerud. Swede Anton Marklund produced a jump start, therefore had to do two Joker Laps instead of one, but nevertheless claimed 9th fastest time. Fastest in Super1600s was Swede Eric Färén while Irishman Derek Tohill was fastest in TouringCars.
