SRC: From Scirocco to Polo

Category: Miscellaneous, News Posted 03.12.13 13:53 by

Swedish ‘Volkswagen Dealer Team KMS’ is set to race two VW Polo Mk5 SuperCars for Norwegian Ole Christian Veiby and Swede Johan Kristoffersson in the all-new SRC of 2014.

Volkswagen Sweden and Kristoffersson Motorsport revealed today to the press that they are going to run a two-car team in the 2014 Swedish Rallycross Championship and at least the Swedish RallycrossRX round at Höljes. The two 560+bhp VW Polo Mk5 SuperCars will be driven by the 17 years old Norwegian Ole Christian Veiby and by KMS junior chief Johan Kristoffersson, who will be 25 years of age the coming Friday (December 6). It was decided to change from VW Scirocco Mk3 SuperCars to the more nimble Polo, the car that Volkswagen used to win the 2013 World Rally Championship with. “We think that the Polo will be the right choice for us and hope, that we can take advantage from its developments inside Volkswagen. With Ole Christian and Johan we should have two drivers with all possibilities to be successful at the Rallycross venues. Johan has shown his Rallycross skills already in July at Höljes, while Ole Christian proved to be eventually on par with the best drivers of the Porsche Carrera Cup,” said the father of Johan, ex-Rallycrosser with Audi and ‘Volkswagen Dealer Team KMS’ team boss Tommy Kristoffersson.
