Sebastian Eriksson, Sandra Hultgren and Kevin Eriksson of the OlsbergsMSE outfit are ready for the next year to be launched ‘RallyX SuperCar Scandinavia’ series.

Rallycross team OlsbergsMSE announced the other day three of its drivers to compete in the 2014 all-new ‘RallyX SuperCar Scandinavia’ series, to start on May 9 and 10 at the legendary Ring Knutstorp in the Skåne region. In 1973 Knutstorp was the venue of Sweden’s first ever ERC round. Sebastian Eriksson (20), from Sunnemo in Värmland, is set to drive an almost 600bhp strong Ford Fiesta Mk7 in the SuperCar class, while female Rallycross driver Sandra Hultgren (21), from Charlottenberg in Värmland, and Kevin Eriksson (17), from Nynäshamn near the capital of Stockholm, team up with two 300+bhp SuperCar Lites vehicles in the smaller category, created by OMSE for to get young blood into the sport.

Former Folkracer and Junior Rallycrosser Sebastian Eriksson, who has competed during the 2013 season in the Lites category of the Global RallyCross Championship in America: “I feel pretty safe. I have tested the SuperCar and the pace was there immediately. We have the best car and the best team – now it’s entirely up to me to deliver. Former STCC champion Johan Kristoffersson will be a guaranty for good competition in the series. He probably has more pressure than me, I am a slight underdog and that suits me well. Johan is a very good driver, it’s a challenge I look forward to.”

OMSE team principal Andréas Eriksson is confident in his namesake’s ability: “He is a talent that is mature far beyond his age. He has shown that he has what it takes to be fighting at the top next in SuperCars next year. He has both, the speed and the toughness.”

Sandra Hultgren, who already had success with the Swedish Alpine Skiing elite before switching to the motorsport disciplines of Folkrace and Rallycross in 2009: “It feels amazing to have this opportunity. It will be great and I will do my best to use this in a good way. But I will be very nervous the first race.”

Kevin Eriksson, son of OMSE team principal Andréas Eriksson, started also in Folkrace events, before making a remarkable Rallycross debut in the Super1600 class of the European Rallycross Championship, winning the 2013 RallycrossRX round of Portugal. “It will be really fun to compete at a high level in Sweden. The car is fun to drive and STCC’s arrangement with Rallycross feels to become very good. This is a new approach and I think it will be a good series,” said OlsbergsMSE’s teenager.

The interest in the new SuperCar Lites class run by OlsbergsMSE has been great. “It looks very good already and I’m very happy to add these two talented drivers to our own team in the new series,” stated Andréas Eriksson and continued: “Sandra impressed me during our tests, and it will be very interesting to follow her development. Kevin, for his part, has done very well in his debut year in Rallycross and I hope he will continue to develop at the same rate over the next year.”
