The US-based Global RallyCross series today revealed its 2014 championship dates, nine in America and one in Barbados.
After going truly “Global” in 2013, with events in Brazil, Spain and Germany, the GRC organisation today announced a 2014 programme with just one event outside of the USA left. The season will kick-off in May at the Bushy Park Circuit on the Caribbean island of Barbados, but later on is going to see all remaining nine rounds in the United States. Round 2 will make part of the Summer X Games, moving from Los Angeles to Austin in Texas. The great GRC Finale is set to take place in November, once again in conjunction with the SEMA show in Las Vegas. The fourth year of Global RallyCross is going to welcome energy drink giant Red Bull as series sponsor and has a purse of half a million dollars in prize money on offer. Volkswagen of America is entering the ring, we at ERC24 expect them to run two VW Polo Mk5 SuperCars of the Swedish Marklund Motorsport team for Tanner Foust and ex-F1 driver Scott Speed over the entire season. We were told that the for the X Games announced Beetle SuperCars will not be ready before 2015.
