WRX: Larsson confirms entry

Category: News, WRX Posted 23.03.15 22:22 by

Swede Robin Larsson has confirmed that he will drive all 13 rounds of the 2015 FIA World Rallycross Championship series at the wheel of his privately run Audi A1 SuperCar.

Robin Larsson, the son of double European Rallycross Champion (2006 & 2007) Lars ‘Stinsen’ Larsson, makes the transition to the headline World Championship SuperCar category after winning last year’s FIA European Rallycross Championship title. “Being in my own team is what keeps me motivated – I know it’s going to be tough with 13 races, but I’ve been working very hard to find new sponsors and now everything is looking good for Portugal,” explained Larsson Junior, who challenged several of last year’s front-runners and secured podium finishes at the German and British WorldRX rounds. “We don’t have as much budget as some of the bigger teams, but I hope we can show our speed in the first race. We’re going to do some more testing before then and I can’t wait to jump in the car again to try it out.”

Robin Larsson is feeling buoyed by the fact that experienced Rallycross driver Michael Jernberg will continue as team chief for the Larsson-Jernberg Racing Team. The 22-year-old explained: “Michael is not only my team chief, but also my mentor off-track and he has been working flat out with the car to try and get everything ready in time. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to the sport, building cars and he will help me a lot in the races this year. The car has been rebuilt over the winter and we have a new engine from Trollspeed. When you can only use three engines without incurring a penalty, it becomes increasingly important to have an engine you can rely on.”
