Pat Doran is to contest the full MSA British Rallycross Championship this season using an LD Motorsports run X Games winning Citroën C4.
British Rallycross Championship site rallycrossbrx.com have this morning announced that Pat Doran will compete in a full season of the British championship.
Pat Doran, the former British Rallycross champion, and previously a regular European campaigner is to drive World Rallycross Championship driver son Liam’s, 2011 X Games winning C4. The car, that has remained unused since 2012 will form part of a two car team. Pat will run the car alongside the 18-year old Rooke, who will drive an LD Motorsports Citroën DS3 for the nine event assault.
“I’m going to do the full championship and I just can’t wait. I think it’s going to be a really good year. It’s really exciting with all these youngsters doing Supercar. Obviously we’re supporting one of them in Dan, and we’re trying to give Jack [Thorne] some help as well. It’s just fantastic for rallycross, the sport is growing and the enthusiasm is huge,” said Doran.
“The C4 has been sitting in bits in the corner of the workshop for a few years now, so we thought we’d put it together. More to the point, I’ve now got a car that I can use, rather than people trying to borrow it to do European and World events, which I’ve had for the last few years. The C4 is a great looking car! We are going to run it in similar colours to how Liam used it in the European Championship in 2010. It may not be the latest technology, but it’s strong and steady. It’s not as quick as the DS3 but I’m not the youngest on the grid either, so it will do me just fine.”
The first round gets underway at Croft on March 6th.
