Foust rules third heat

Category: ERC, News Posted 12.08.12 15:11 by

Tanner Foust set the fastest SCs time of the third qualification runs, Teemu Suninen won in Super1600s and Anton Marklund in TouringCars.

The qualification in Holland has been completed. The pole setter in SuperCars, Russian Timur Timerzyanov, went out for some test laps, but decided to leave the track early as there was nothing else to gain for him any longer. American Tanner Foust made good use of the opportunity to run away with the fastest time here. While TT is on pole of the A final with the minimum of 2 points now TF has just 3 points, but has to start from the first row in the B final after getting another engine installed in his Ford Fiesta yesterday afternoon. According to the rules a driver must be downgraded by 8 positions prior to the finals if changing his engine during an ERC round.

Norwegian Alexander Hvaal put the second fastest time on the SuperCars list, saving him a place in the front row of the A final grid, thanks to Tanner Foust’s absence there. Between the Russian and the Norwegian it is Frenchman Davy Jeanney who can put his Citroën C4 in the first row.

Similar situation in Super1600s where pole setter Joni Wiman went out, but drove slowly to a 15th place. The fastest time here was driven by Wiman’s fellow-countryman Teemu Suninen who can start alongside the Grönholm protegé into the A final. Third man in the front row will be Russian Ildar Rakhmatullin.

In TouringCars Swede Robin Larsson, his compatriot Anton Marklund and Irishman Derek Tohill are going to start the last race of the weekend from the front row.
