Timerzyanov takes Holland

Category: ERC, News Posted 12.08.12 17:49 by

ERC leader Timur Timerzyanov extends his lead in the point standings by winning Valkenswaard from Davy Jeanney and Frode Holte.

Tatarstan-Russian Timur Timerzyanov today took his third victory in a row by winning the Dutch ERC round at the Eurocircuit near Valkenswaard in Holland. Frenchman Davy Jeanney dog-hounded his Citroën make-colleague all the way to the chequered flag to become the Russian’s runner-up. Third place went to Norwegian Frode Holte who, over the last couple of laps, came under pressure from the eventually fourth placed Belgian Michaël De Keersmaecker.

Timerzyanov is now quite certain of the championship title. Clear at the top with 128 points and just two rounds to go, the Russian added Holland to his list of victories this year. It almost appeared as if his third consecutive ERC weekend win was gained effortlessly. Davy Jeanney eventually held second-place after facing pressure from Frode Holte. Holte held off De Keersmaecker to gain a fantastic and well-deserved podium after his absence from the competition, and his second event of this year.

Andreas Bakkerud took the Super1600s class from Ulrik Linnemann and Vadim Makarov, whilst youngster Anton Marklund successfully won the TouringCars A final. Robin Larsson gave chase but was not able to stop his compatriot. Derek Tohill gained a well-deserved third place.

Update: Timur Timerzyanov has 128 points now. Tanner Foust can score a maximum of 129 points, only if winning both remaining rounds, Finland and Germany. If TT would score not a single point in round 9 and 10 the title would fall to TF then. But it is almost sure that the American is not going to do Buxtehude this year, as clashing with the penultimate round of the GRC in Las Vegas…
