BRC: Procter on home soil

Last weekend’s Rallycross event at Lydden Hill, counting towards the British as well as the Belgian Rallycross Championships, was won by English Ford campaigner Kevin Procter in SuperCars.

ERC24 has been informed by a Swedish source that coming Thursday there will be a press conference organised by VW Sweden in Stockholm to reveal a new motorsport project. While checking our vineyard we’ve heard some whispers and came to the conclusion that it has something to do with Johan Kristoffersson, the racing son of Tommy Kristoffersson, Pontus Tidemand and the ERX round at Höljes.

Jussi-Petteri Leppihalme has entered the FIA European Rallycross Championship opener over the Easter weekend at Lydden Hill with the ex-Andy Scott Ford Focus Mk2. The car is now owned by Belgian Koen Pauwels and the Finn hopes to find a sufficient budget for more 2013 RallycrossRX events with the 560bhp SuperCar.

There will be a MINI WRC by Prodrive competing in this weekend’s Rallycross event at Lydden Hill in England. The driver has not yet been named, but it is expected that it would be Liam Doran. Rumours have it that it should be a test drive for Doran’s Global X Games plans. Doran Junior is among those invited drivers for Brazil, but the organisers have no cars named on their list yet.

According to a press release of STCC AB the STCC promoter and the Swedish ASN SBF have now agreed to continue their cooperation. For the Swedish Rallycross Championship it means that SBF’s Rallycross committee is taking care of the 2013 SRC, while both parties are working together to improve the series, that will be run by STCC AB from 2014 on for SuperCars and SuperCar Lites.

After pulling the plug on his JRX Cup plans youngster Joni Wiman became one of the most impressive newcomers of last year’s Super1600s ERC. With the help of his mentor Marcus Grönholm the Finn is set for a SuperCar Lites GRC programme.
