Nordgård down and out in Dreux

Category: ERC, May, News, Shortcuts Posted 03.05.12 14:46 by

David Nordgård was forced to go home early last weekend due to persistent engine problems that ended the teams’ French outing.

David Nordgård was only able to contend in one heat last weekend, the Ford Focus Mk2 driver struck with fatal engine damage that the team could not repair in time for Sunday’s heats and finals.

Nordgård had shown spectators early on that he had the potential to perform in the TouringCars class, picking up fourth fastest in the official timed practice session in horrendous conditions at the Circuit d l’Ouest Parisien. The Norwegian managed just three laps in heat one before pulling off and recording a DNF on the first day. The team learnt that the car had severe engine problems shortly after, and decided to leave Sunday morning.

Deflated Nordgård commented:  “There is not much to say. The engine is gone, and there is no more money, plain and simple. We are trying to figure out a way to get back to get a win. It’s frustrating because the car was in winning form before it happened.”

The team will now work to get the car prepared for round three of the ERC at the PS Racing Center in Greinbach, Austria – in three weeks’ time.
