Former BMW 1-series TouringCar driver Ole Håbjørg has entered the ERC rounds of Hell and Höljes with a brandnew rear-wheel driven Opel Corsa D-type.
One cannot claim Norwegian TouringCar driver Ole Håbjørg an ERC regular, but when the former BMW campaigner used his 1-series E87 in European championship events he was an A final regular. Between 2009 and 2011 Håbjørg took part in only eight ERC rounds and always made it to the main final, claiming his best result at the German Estering in 2009 when he won the TouringCars category.
His former BMW has been sold to his compatriot Kim Steinsholt while an all-new Opel Corsa D has been built, tested in early June and now entered for the two Scandinavian rounds of the ERC. Håbjørg presented his mint condition car during the press conference at the Lånkebanen on June 7 and was able to do several test laps. “I’m not sure how far I can go with this Corsa, but I have a lot of faith in the car. The test today was okay, but I have not much to compare with. I’m pretty certain now that the engine, [prepared by Trond Stensbøl], is stronger than the engine I had in my BMW, but we have still enough work to do on the car’s set-up,” claimed the eleventh of the 2011 TouringCars point standings in Hell.
