Double European Rallycross Champion of the Super1600s class Andreas Bakkerud is heading to the US for Ford Fiesta tests and hoping to get a SuperCar programme bagged for 2013.
More indications that Ford is replacing its World Rally Championship (WRC) activities by a factory commitment to Rallycross are coming from Norway. During the celebration party for his second title win Super1600 campaigner Andreas Bakkerud claimed to the Norwegian press: “I’m going to the US next Friday to test for Ford on November 1 in Las Vegas. They have pulled out of Rallying and heading into Rallycross. I do not know yet what the future will bring for me, but I hope to get a cheaper ERC entry, perhaps even a free seat. My goal is to find a good team and maybe to race in a Ford. And for 2015, when the ERC turns into a World series, my target is to become the World Rallycross Champion.”
